What we do at Little Lamb's Preschool

Circle Times: are filled with storybooks, language building activities, puppets, flannel activities, finger plays, Calendar, letter of the week, Show and Tell and much more.
Free Choice Time: Dramatic play, which is role playing life, A manipulative area to explore puzzles, games, lacing, and Lego’s, which work on pre-math skills and fine motor skills.  A sensory/science area where they can do water/sand play, measuring, easel painting, play-dough, etc. The block area helps the children learn to build, think, problem solve and use their social skills. Art is always available for the children to have fun with and be creative.  A time to relax and take a breather, and build on language skills, is why there is a soft, quiet book reading area.  A learning corner with writing practice, phonics and letter/number activities.
Special Helper of the day:  Each child gets a chance to be the special helper of the day with the Calendar, Letter of the week and weather chart.
Out door play: Children get fresh air, use their large motor skills with balancing, climbing and riding trikes.  Play in the sand box, draw with chalk and just run.  We do games and activities outside that go along with our themed curriculum.
Fieldtrips: We explore the Science Dome, Pumpkin Patch, Children's Museum, Library, Old McDebbies Farm. We are always looking for new areas to explore.
learning small groups: Letter sight and sounds are already built into the environment through daily activities, but here at Little Lamb's Preschool we also work individually on letter and number recognition. We learn our letters by sight and sound, work on writing for early learning language development and reading skills. We have large and small groups that we interact with the children through games, Rhymes, writing, tracing in sand, sensory and air, singing and much more.  We learn how to write our name with upper and lower case letters by the end of pre-k. With the help of Parents reinforcing these skills at home your child can be better prepared for Kindergarten. We truly believe that children learn at their own pace and do not push a child towards academic skills that just come naturally to children when they are ready to learn.
